About: Mayim knows and understands how difficult it can be to ask for help. Change is hard. And being vulnerable with a complete stranger can feel overwhelming. Mayim is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and has a Master of Arts Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Bethel Seminary in Saint Paul, Minnesota. Mayim started out her career as a community-based therapist, helping children and parents in their homes, who suffered from chronic mental health issues. She then moved on to providing therapy to individuals, couples and families in various outpatient settings.

Mayim approaches therapy with warmth, authenticity, and a unique blend of directness and gentleness. As a mama herself, she has special interest in supporting moms who are pregnant, postpartum, or are raising young children on the challenging and beautiful journey of motherhood.  Mayim works primarily with women seeking to heal from childhood trauma, set boundaries, sort out relationship difficulties, and overall, feel empowered to live a healthier life. She also enjoys providing pre-marital and couples counseling as she is a certified Prepare/Enrich facilitator.

Specialized Training:

  • Adaptive Internal Relational (AIR) Network: A neuro-developmental, competency based therapy used to help people heal from past traumatic experiences and identify aspects of themselves that may have developed as a response to traumatic experiences.

  • Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR): A structured therapy to help clients process traumatic memories and some (but not limited to) issues like anxiety and depression. EMDR also helps people heal from issues that have often felt unresolved or stuck in traditional talk therapy.

  • PREPARE/ENRICH: Mayim is certified in providing assessments for couples seeking premarital counseling.

Additionally, she use techniques from Internal Family Systems (IFS), a transformative therapy that helps people identify, accept and heal their protective and wounded inner parts of themselves.
