About: Amanda understands the vulnerability and courage it takes to start the work of therapy and she is honored to come alongside her clients as they move towards hope and healing. Amanda utilizes a strengths-based, collaborative, trauma-informed approach when working with clients. Her clients have found her to be insightful, kind, and skilled at creating the safety needed to allow them to move towards embodied living.

Amanda has a master’s degree in Family Psychology from Capella University and a post-master’s certificate in Marriage and Family Therapy from Saint Mary’s University. In addition to her experience working in a private practice setting, Amanda has worked with college students at University of Northwestern-St. Paul in Student Life and Counseling Services. She also has experience working with at-risk youth in an emergency shelter program in Minneapolis.

Amanda is trained in Gottman Method Therapy (Levels 1&2) and utilizes this model as her primary orientation with couples. Amanda is an approved educator for the Gottman Institute’s The Seven Principles and Bringing Baby Home educational programs. She is trained in EMDR therapy, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy (Levels 1 & 2), and Trauma-Informed Stabilization Treatment (TIST, Level 1) and utilizes these modalities for the treatment of trauma. In addition to providing pre-marital counseling using PREPARE/ENRICH, she is a PREPARE/ENRICH Seminar Director and is available to provide training to professionals in private practice and church settings.

Types of Therapy: Amanda works with adolescent and adult clients in an individual or couple setting. Amanda is an approved supervisor with both the Minnesota Board of Marriage and Family Therapy and the Minnesota Board of Behavioral Health and Therapy.
